The Harp in Cornwall

Thursday 6th August / 7:00-9:00pm

Join Mike O'Connor and Barbara Griggs for an evening delving into a thousand years of Cornish harping complete with live music.

Whilst other Celtic lands of the British Isles all have a well-documented tradition of harping, it has received little attention in Cornwall… until now. Their latest book, 'The Children of Arganteilin', locates the harp in the musical history of Cornwall with research drawn from manuscripts, lexicons, account books, iconography, wills and newspaper reports.

Both Bards of the Gorsedh, Mike O'Connor is a leading researcher of music in Cornwall, and Barbara is a respected early music specialist. Other books they have written together include 'Above the Tin Stream' and 'The Quay Street Harper'

The evening includes a talk with live harp music and 'The Children of Arganteilin' is available to buy on the night.

Doors open at 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start
