Aprons of Work, Voices of Value Private View

Private View: Saturday 10 October | 5pm to 7pm

Exhibition opens: 28 September to 19 December

Elaine Foster-Gandey with Torpoint Community College & Wave Academy Liskeard

You are warmly invited to the private view of Aprons of Work: Voices of Value, a collaborative textile project exploring work, care, equality, heritage and aspiration.

Led by artist Elaine Foster-Gandey in collaboration with students and staff at Torpoint Community College and students from Wave academy Liskeard, the project brings together the voices and experiences of young people through the making and embellishment of aprons.

Inspired by Cornwall’s working heritage — from bal maidens and miners to domestic and caring roles — the project also asks what work means to young people today and what they imagine for the future.

At the heart of the exhibition is a large collaborative apron incorporating the students’ work, alongside photography, historic items and material from the project.
