Lunchtime Talk: King Arthur's Country
Wednesday 22nd April, 1-2pm
King Arthur’s Country, Cornwall. Seeking Arthur, Mark, Tristan and Isolde
Talk by Jacky Nowakowski FSA, Archaeologist, Researcher and Educator
Since medieval times the Cornish landscape has pulsated with stories of King Arthur, King Mark, Tristan and Isolde. Such tales are powerful place-making tools which link these legendary figures to real and imagined places across Cornwall and have inspired generations of pilgrims, writers, artists and historians to seek them out.
This illustrated talk explores the history of seeking Arthur and Mark across the Cornish landscape and presents results of recent archaeological excavations at Tintagel Castle in 2017.
